My hands are cut to ribbons! I am officially a failure as a man when it comes to DIY, but spent the last 2 weeks of 2014 getting my new private training studio FitSlimStrong (on the Belmont Road) ready for opening this month.
You don’t want to know how many times I used the wrong screws or drill bit or adhesive or ran a stanley knife across my dainty wee hands, taking 3 times longer than I thought it would take to do just about everything. But it’s finally done…
- So the rack, weights, bars and kettlebells are in the Weights Room, for helping clients of all shapes and sizes improve their body shape and get stronger.
- The Sled is ready in the Functional Training area, for pushing and pulling to strengthen and tone peoples’ thighs & backsides and work the legs, arms and core in the process.
- The TRX and Pull Up bar is drilled into the wall with the biggest f-in screws B&Q had as I was paranoid it would come out once anyone hung from it. That bar can take a family of elephants doing chin ups on it now…
- And the punchbag is up in the corner, ready to take whatever beating clients want to give it, in pursuit of a great useful (joggers take note) cardio workout, stress relief and a great looking upper body.
How Yoda helped me brighten the place up
And then I thought “Those walls are looking wild sparse and white”, and fortunately remembered I was bloody awful at art at school and so called Dean at Visual Waste (www.visualwaste.co.uk) in sunny Tandragee to come and jazz things up.
I decided to overlook the standard “Work Your Arse Off If You Want To Stop Being FAT!” slogans, and found some great quotes that I think sum up the way people need to think in order to change their lifestyle and turn things around health and fitness-wise. Anyway, here’s how the walls look now!
What’s happening in the coming weeks and months
I’m choc a bloc training old and new clients, and to help kick off the New Year, and to kind of celebrate the opening of the studio I’m offering free trial sessions, to anyone who fills in this form here, who I think I can help. If that’s maybe you, go ahead and fill in the form and I’ll get back to you asap.
So blog-wise I think I have a lot of useful stuff to share with you – articles, ideas, videos – mainly how to cut through all the confusing guff out there that makes us all believe it’s more complicated than it actually is, to get in shape and lose weight.
But if there’s anything in particular standing in your way or confusing you about getting yourself fit, slim and strong right now, then please do feel free to get in touch, either by email, on Twitter or Facebook.
